Perhaps he doesnt know better! . He is just a small boy. Thats probably the only fact we are given on the speaker. Or maybe, despite the abuse, his capture truly cared about him. After all, the man is going out of his way to teach his parole how to dance, to be close with him. If the sire didnt care about the boy, he wouldnt even bother. There is unimpeachably a love shared between the two, as father and intelligence, that prevails no matter how abusive the father may be.
